Rick Rubin Talks Working On & Recording Process Of ‘Yeezus’

Kanye’s fans and rest of the world are quite fascinated with the fact that Kanye roped in legendary producer Rick Rubin at the last minute to finish up his new album Yeezus. Rick will now be credited as an executive producer on the LP and in this interview with Wall Street Journal, he talks about the recording process and how he helped ‘Ye in putting final touches at the 11th hour. When and why did you join the “Yeezus” project? Kanye came over to play me what I assumed was going to be the finished album at three weeks before the last possible delivery date. We ended up listening to three hours of partially finished pieces. The raw material was very strong but hadn’t yet come into focus. Many of the vocals hadn’t been recorded yet, and many of those still didn’t have lyrics. From what he played me, it sounded like several months more work had to be done. I joined the project because after discussing what he had played for me, he asked if I would be open to taking all of the raw material on and help him finish it.

2 Chainz Speaks On Recent Robbery

By now you’ve probably heard about 2 Chainz having an incident with some individuals interested in robbing him, and earlier he stopped by HOT 107.9 to recount the event. Check out some of the transcript below, or click play on the entire audio to know what he had to say about incident which has been in the news because of conflicting reports. “I saw the gun first,” 2 Chainz told Emperor Searcy, Mz Shyneka and Mister Smith. “It was like a .357. It was so heavy he couldn’t really hold it. The gun was so big. That’s what made me take off running. When I went into the street, there was another dude with a whole ‘nother gun,” he added. “That’s when I knew it wasn’t like an episode of Punk’d. I was like this is real…I had bullet fragments in my hair…I think he thought he shot me.”

Mac Miller On The Breakfast Club

Mac Miller returned to the Breakfast Club yesterday to chat with DJ Envy, Charlamagne and Angela Yee. He speaks on his new album Watching Movies With The Sound Off, why he’s different than J. Cole and Kanye, his dedicated fan base, Tyler The Creator’s production on the album, getting a verse from Jay Electronica, working with Ariana Grande, whether he wants to sign anybody and more.

Kanye Debuts Violent Short Film At ‘Yeezus’ Listening In L.A.

Kanye West’s new album Yeezus finally sprung a leak yesterday and the reaction from fans to the dark theme with EDM and Punk influenced sound hasn’t been too positive till now. ‘Ye (well his team since he wasn’t present) held another listening session for the album in Los Angeles on Friday night where apart from playing the album, his new American Psycho-inspired short film was projected on the walls of Milk Studios. The bloody 2 minute film stars Kim Kardashian’s BFF Jonathan Cheban and her sister Kourtney’s boyfriend Scott Disick and was shot earlier this month in Brooklyn. Rap-Up caught some footage of the clip and also notes that Police eventually asked Kanye’s team to turn off the sound.

Will Smith & Simon Cowell Team Up For DJ Competition Show

Simon Cowell has outgrown looking for the next America Idol. Instead, he is now in search for the world’s greatest DJ and he has teamed up with Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith to help find him/her.

Cowell’s Syco Entertainment is partnering with the Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television to continue developing the new show, which has been in the works for over a year.

“We have been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people,” said Cowell via a statement, according to Deadline.com.” As soon as I met Jada and Miguel from Overbrook, I knew they would be our ideal partners. DJ’s are the new rock stars, it feels like the right time to make this show.”

Pinkett-Smith is equally excited, stating, “This show will comb the world to find a new breed of talent. I am happy to be creating it alongside Simon Cowell.”

Cowell has a remarkable track record when it comes to talent search shows and the success of American Idol, X Factor and America’s Got Talent should give a clear indication of the new show’s future.

An announcement with the show’s U.S. broadcast carrier will come shortly.

New Lil Wayne Album On The Way?

Cash Money Records CEO Birdman is letting Lil Wayne continue to put together platinum-selling records by revealing Weezy's plans to drop an upcoming I Am Not A Human Being 2 LP and their Like Father, Like Son 2 joint project later this year.

Although he is unsure if Wayne will do a follow-up to 2010's Rebirth album, Birdman said fans should anticipate a new solo album sooner than later.

"Wayne's got an album he's about to drop real soon. Its called I am not a Human Being 2. It's gonna be before the summer for sure. We haven't picked the date yet. Whenever he's ready to drop his album, we're gonna make it do what it do. He's definitely got an album done and ready to go. Wayne works a lot. There's no telling [if Rebirth 2 will happen]. But I know for sure we've got I Am Not A Human Being 2 ready to go. That's the next project."

Birdman also said their joint effort would likely hit store shelves next winter.

"We got that finished too. We've been recording that. We never stopped recording [for] that. We got songs we want. When we get ready to drop it, we'll probably do that in the 4th quarter. Wayne wants to do the I Am Not A Human Being 2 and I want to do my solo album too, so we'll probably do that later on."

Around mid-January, the Cash Money boss hinted at their collaborative effort's existence.

"Birdman GTVodka No Hangover NoRegrets Neva Ends. Kmin in Feb.," he tweeted January 14th.

"LikeFather LikeSon 2 Tha Last MOB.YMCMB" (Birdman's Twitter)

Last October, Wayne revealed plans to begin working on his I Am Not A Human Being 2 LP.

"Drake's album Take Care is coming November 15, Nicki [Minaj] is about to start working on her next album -- [Birdman] coming out; I'm Not a Human Being II and Rebirth II is so not important right now -- We got [Lil] Twist coming, we got Tyga Tyga coming, and then we have Shanell coming, then we got Bow Wow -- that's what's really important. What I'm doing is really never important, actually. I'm a very unimportant guy. It's just me."

Slaughterhouse Sophomore LP On The Way

Fans anxiously awaiting the follow-up to Slaughterhouse's 2009 self-titled debut can start getting excited with an update surrounding the foursome's sophomore LP title and release date.

According to reports, their long-awaited sophomore effort will hit stores this May.

Slaughterhouse announced today the details of the group's new tour as well as confirmed that the title of their forthcoming Shady Records/Interscope album debut will be welcome to: OUR HOUSE. Executive produced by Eminem, welcome to: OUR HOUSE, to be released May 15, 2012, will be the second album from the creative collaboration of Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5'9?. New music will be made available next week for fans to get their first taste of what promises to be one of the most anticipated and explosive albums of the year.

In December, group member Joe Budden said fans could expect the LP to drop in April.

"I want to talk about the Slaughterhouse project. It's coming this April, hopefully," Budden said during a "1st & 10" ESPN appearance. "Shout-out to my group, by the way - Royce, Joell, Crooked - signed to Eminem's Shady Records. The album's phenomenal. So I want to tell all the sports fans out there to look out for it."

A month prior, Budden revealed their follow-up to 2009's debut was nearly completed.

"I've heard interviews from Royce [Da 5'9], Joell [Ortiz] and Crooked I where they said we were seventy-five percent done, but Royce came up to New York and we worked on a few records--I think we're about ninety five percent done," he continued. "I'm hoping the first single will come in January or December, but naturally Eminem would have the last word on that."

Over the summer, Joell Ortiz details how he felt confident in what fans could expect from the LP.

"Usually I'm the one that's like, 'We're just working hard and in the studio,' -- I'm just saying, the things we're doing are epic. Our album is going to be incredible," Ortiz said in an interview. "I'm so excited, like real talk, it doesn't even make sense. I don't really care who you're talking about. Slaughterhouse is going to be that sh*t."

50 Cent Tells Birdman "Hit Me If You Want It" Rapper Responds To Super Bowl Bet

With the New York Giants and New England Patriots set to face-off at next month's Super Bowl, G-Unit's 50 Cent has responded to Cash Money boss Birdman's million dollar gamble.

Although Birdman is putting up $5 million, Fif is betting a fraction of the gamble on his hometown team.

"I'm up 500,000 off the last one. f*ck it ill bet it back Ill put a 1,000,000 on my G MEN. STUNNER you got the # hit me if you want it.," he tweeted referring to Birdman.

"I just check the spread Hold up the M casino in vegas said patriots-3 I'm have to bet over there unless STUNNTER giving up points. Get at me" (50 Cent's Twitter)

A few nights ago, Birdman announced his high-priced Patriots bet.

"I like New ENGLaNd.my nephew play RB# 42.I'm Bet 5million 2 any n*ggaaa.like tha Giants YMCMB.BabyMoney anybody kan Getit.," he tweeted January 23rd. (Birdman's Twitter)

50 hinted at banking $500,000 betting on the Giants defeating the San Francisco 49ers in their NFC championship match Sunday night.

"I love the NEW YORK see this is life baby LMAO Man all U had to do was listen I told you were gonna win http://lockerz.com/s/176987740," he tweeted January 22nd.

"Street king baby I'm a king I do this. I'm giving this money to my nana she gonna faint LMAO all she do is go to the church :o)"

Last year, Birdman placed a winning million dollar bet on the Super Bowl.

Bryan Williams tells Dallas radio that he's got a "mill ticket" riding on Lil Wayne's preferred contender in tonight's Super Bowl XLV. Last week, Birdman appeared at Dallas, Texas' K104 FM station with DJ Khaled, and hinted that he's got a million dollars riding on tonight's Super Bowl XLV contest. "If you listen to us, you'll feel us," said the former Big Tymers rapper. Continuously repeating the term "mill ticket," the executive-turned-rapper boasted that he and his associates live a life of grandeur. "A mill ticket, man, figure it out."

Chris Rock & Dave Chappelle Inspired By Jay-Z and Kanye's "Watch The Throne"

It looks like Dave Chappelle might step back into the limelight thanks to an unlikely source of inspiration: Jay-Z and Kanye West.

The two artists collaborated on the Watch The Throne album last year, which led to a tour, buddying two of the greatest to ever touch the mic. Now, inspired by The Throne union, Chris Rock, who is one the funniest in his field, has been trying to get fellow comedian Chappelle to go on tour together.

“I’ve been talking to Chappelle a lot. Been trying to get Chappelle to go on tour,” said Rock during an interview with Vulture Mag. “You know I’m not the hard one, but, I’m trying to make that happen. After seeing Kanye and Jay-Z, I was like, ‘me and Dave should do this.’”

The rumors of a possible trek first surfaced last October and it looks like Rock has not given up on the opportunity, not to mention, the success of Watch The Throne has given him more motivation.

In related news, Jay-Z recently revealed that he is not only planning on releasing another solo album this year, he plans on working on another Throne album with ‘Ye.

“It depends on how this thing finishes up,” Jay said in reference to his and Kanye’s current Watch the Throne Tour. “We — I say ‘we’ because I’m in Throne mode — we’re in a great place creatively. You might see a Jay, then Kanye and a Throne album next year. You know, we’re really in a great place creatively. We really found our zone.”

Tyga Announces Nas & Nicki Minaj Collaboration On The Way

Tyga says it took some time but he has finally procured a verse from Nas for his new LP, Careless World: Rise of the Last King, dropping February 21. Esco appears on a track called “Kings and Queens” that also features Wale.

“Yeah man, I sent Nas a song like six months ago and I never heard back from him but out of the blue, he called me like, ‘Yo, you doing your thing. I want to be a part of what you doing, I like everything you doing. Keep working hard,” “I sent him the ‘Kings and Queens’ that night and he did it the next day. I was like, that shit is crazy. Nas always talks that shit. The song, man, [his bars] added the cherry on top. It’s a real classic song. People are gonna like it. I wanna think of a dope video. The storyline of the song, the whole King and Queens [theme], it’s motivational.”

Tyga is also excited about a record he did with his older, musical sibling Nicki Minaj for her new album.

“The song for Nicki is called ‘Muthafucka Up,’” he shares. “I don’t know what they gonna call it on the radio. Maybe they might call it ‘Up.’ That one is one of them going in type songs. Like how Wayne had ‘A Milli.’ One of those Young Money records that people love. We got a crazy visual for that one, too. I don’t wanna give it away. I’ve been doing a lot of features for everyone.”
