Incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne's daughter, Reginae, has begun the countdown for her father's release from jail as the rapper closes in on the final month of his stay at Rikers Island.
According to Wayne's ex-wife, Antonia "Toya" Carter, they are both excited about for his return on November 4th.
Wayne's ex-wife, Antonia "Toya" Carter, told MTV News on the BET Hip-Hop Awards red carpet Saturday that she and her daughter with Weezy are amped for the powerhouse lyricist's release next month. "It's very exciting," Carter smiled. "Especially when you have a little girl that's anticipating his return. We're looking forward to that. It's very exciting." (MTV)
Over the summer, Toya revealed that she and Wayne agreed not to allow their 12-year-old to see him behind bars.
"That's no place for a kid to go," says Wayne's ex-wife LaToya Carter [sic] also the mother of Wayne's 2-year-old son Dewayne III. "[Wayne and I] just decided not to let her go [to Riker's Island] period. She's never been. He makes sure he talks to his daughter everyday, talking and writing is enough....[Reginae's] writing her father a letter and she took pictures for him. When I go visit, I'll bring it to him," says Toya. "We may spend [the day] with my father or just together." (VIBE)
Last March, Toya said their daughter spoke to Wayne daily.
"As long as we've been talking or dating I've never not been able to pick up the phone and call him no matter what is going on in my life," she said in an interview. "Now he's locked up and it's not like that anymore. As far as my daughter, her and her father have a great relationship. She talks to him every day after school. She can still talk to him but now it's on a schedule with calls. It's going to be a change for these 8 months." (Honey Mag)
Prior to Wayne going to jail on a gun conviction last March, Toya discussed the relationship she has with Wayne.
"We talk," she said in an interview. "We have a great relationship. He's a great father. He tells [our daughter] about [his other kids], so I just go along with the flow. I'm good with all of [his children's mothers]. I try to keep the kids cool because they're all in the same situation, so we don't have time for any drama." (E! Online)
